Election Round-Up

Finally, we’re all the real America. (Frank Rich, Sarah Vowell and Timothy Egan, thank you for calling it out back when we weren’t.)

I am proud to be an American, as we turn away from excess and toward someone – finally – who is deserving of the highest office in the land and will try to live up to our expectations. Do your best, Obama, and that will be formidable enough.

I am so sorry Obama’s grandmother wasn’t around to say, as my grandmother also would have done, that his triumph was “nice”, as he told Letterman she’d said his nomination was. But her vote counted, in the end. May she rest in peace.
